OAKLAND, Calif. -- The U. S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today approved $3,000,000 for the seismic retrofit of two buildings on the campus of the Mount Zion Medical Center located in the city and county of San Francisco. The project is partially funded by FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).

The national test will occur on Wednesday, November 9 at 9 a.m. (HAST) and may last up to three and a half minutes.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- As part of its ongoing efforts to encourage Americans to prepare for all hazards, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is encouraging all Californians to participate in the "Great California ShakeOut" on Thursday, October 20, 2011. The ShakeOut is the state's annual public earthquake drill, organized by the Earthquake Country Alliance. During the drill, which will be conducted at 10:20 am pacific standard time, anyone can practice how to protect themselves during and after a major earthquake - whether at work, at home or at school. To date, over 8.4 million Californians have signed up.
